Mystic Air Quality Consultants is now approved as a training provider

for training individuals for purposes of obtaining certification

to conduct renovation, repair, and painting activities pursuant to

Section 402 of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) (15 U.S.C. 2682)

specifically for

the Lead RRP Renovator Initial 8 hour program

and for the Lead RRP Renovator Refresher 4 hour program

Here's what it's about .... effective April 2010

Federal EPA considerations now expand the requirements for those who renovate, remodel or paint facilities or parts of buildings which are defined as "child occupied facilities" (COFs).   Those requirements include training of Lead Renovators in supervisory positions, who then return to their companies and train the working staff - or companies can elect to have certified training companies train all staff members.  

"Child occupied facilities" are those that meet all of the criteria listed below, including but not limited to homes, offices, schools, day cares, nursery and pre-schools or any other buildings:

    (a)   built prior to 1978

    (b)  where paints or coatings have not yet been tested for lead identification or

           where there are leaded paints or coatings

    (c)   in which children under the age of six are present

                    1.   at least on two different days of the week

                    2.   provided that each day's visit last at least three hours

                    3.   the combined weekly visits last at least six hours

                   and

                   4.   the combined annual visits last at least sixty hours.

The refresher training of a half-day's duration is suitable for certification for those who already have either Lead Abatement training and hold state accreditation or who have taken a HUD Lead Safe Work Practices program.
